Introduction to WSET

WSET was founded in the UK in 1969 to promote, provide and develop high quality education and training in the wine and spirit industries. WSET is now the largest global provider of wine, spirits and Sake qualifications, with specialist courses available through a network of over 800 Approved Programme Providers working in over 70 countries and in 15 languages. Since its foundation, WSET has awarded nearly one million individuals a WSET qualification, with Hong Kong being the fourth biggest candidate market.

Principal Educator

Will Jarvis is the Principal Educator of Sake Matters Education & Training, an Approved Programme Provider for WSET. Will studied and passed his own WSET Level 3 Award in Sake in 2018, whilst living in Shanghai.

Sake Matters Education & Training is a division of Food & Drink Matters offering the buoyant Hong Kong Sake community a range of services including Sake discovery sessions, Sake pairing dinners, social media content and writing for local media to help further Sake education within the region.

Will is a regular judge at several of Hong Kong’s revered Sake awards: Hong Kong International Wine & Spirit Competition (HK IWSC), Oriental Sake Awards (OSA) and Tasting Trendies Sake Awards (TTSA).

Outside of Hong Kong, Will is a regular contributor for the Sake Brewers Association of North America.
